Estêvão was Player of the Match for his stoppage time heroics. The young winger’s composure and finish in his first Chelsea goal sent Stamford Bridge into raptures and he’s a star in the making under Maresca.

Match Highlights

Chelsea had the better of the first half with Alejandro Garnacho side footing wide and Reece James harrying Mohamed Salah to disrupt Liverpool’s flow. A VAR checked penalty appeal for Garnacho was turned down and Salah missed two curling efforts in the second half, including a golden chance set up by Florian Wirtz.

Chelsea’s centre back crisis deepened as Benoît Badiashile and Josh Acheampong limped off and Reece James had to slot in at the back. Liverpool’s subs, including Wirtz and Andrew Robertson, had a brief spell of pressure but Mamardashvili couldn’t keep out Estêvão’s late killer.
