Coming off a thrilling 4-3 victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup before the international break, United were hoping to carry that momentum into this game. However, their aspirations for Champions League qualification took a hit with the loss of two crucial points.
Throughout the match, United allowed Brentford numerous chances, but the home team failed to capitalize efficiently on their opportunities. United seemed to have secured a 1-0 victory when Mason Mount, scoring his inaugural goal for the club, found the net in stoppage time after coming on as a substitute. Yet, United’s celebration was short-lived as Kristoffer Ajer quickly equalized for the Bees.
Overall, it was a disappointing evening for United, as they found themselves outplayed for significant stretches of the game.
