Chelsea’s head coach, Enzo Maresca, made a statement in the Premier League, carving his name into its history books.
Maresca became the first manager in Premier League history to lead his team to a six-goal victory in an away match. This milestone was achieved on Sunday, August 25, 2024, during Chelsea’s match against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.
The game kicked off with a bang, as Nicolas Jackson netted the opening goal just 98 seconds in. Wolves responded quickly with a goal from Cunha, but Chelsea regained the lead thanks to a brilliant strike from Cole Palmer. Wolves, however, equalized before halftime through Strand Larsen.
Maresca’s halftime pep talk worked wonders, as Noni Madueke fired in a remarkable hat-trick within 14 minutes, all set up by Palmer. Chelsea’s new signings, Pedro Neto and João Félix, then linked up to score the team’s sixth goal.
