UCL Draw: UEFA 2024/25 Champions League group stage fixtures

The 2024/25 UEFA Champions League draw starts a new and exciting chapter in Europe’s most prestigious football competition.

Europe’s elite teams, including reigning champions, traditional powerhouses, and ambitious newcomers, will face off in this revamped tournament as they compete for the coveted title.

This draw is especially significant as it’s the first under the new format, where all 36 teams are placed in a single league table. Each team will be drawn into different groups, resulting in eight fixtures for each club—two matches (home and away) against teams from each of the four pots.

When will the Champions League group stage kick-off?

The first set of fixtures is scheduled for September. 17-19, this league phase will stretch into January 2025, with all 18 games on the final matchday being played at the same time. The top eight finishers will progress straight through to the round of 16, but those below will get a second chance.

Teams finishing between ninth and 24th in the league phase will progress to two-legged play-offs, with the winners of those also making the last 16. There’s no longer a drop-down to the Europa League, though, so if you finish in positions 25-36 then you’re done.

Those teams who book a spot in the play-offs will play those in February, with the round of 16 beginning on March 4. The final, meanwhile, will take place in Munich on May 31.
