Paris St Germain clinched a hard-earned 2-0 victory against Real Sociedad in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League clash, thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappe and Bradley Barcola in the second half.
Real Sociedad, arriving at the Parc des Princes with an unbeaten record in this year’s competition after topping Group D, put up a strong fight and were arguably the better team until Mbappe’s volley off Marquinhos’ corner broke the deadlock in the 58th minute, giving PSG the lead.
Just three minutes later, Barcola added to PSG’s advantage by slotting the ball through the legs of goalkeeper Alex Remiro.
The return leg in Spain is scheduled for March 5th.
