PSV 1-1 Borussia Dortmund Highlights | UEFA Champions League

In an exciting clash between PSV Eindhoven and Borussia Dortmund at the Philips Stadion on Tuesday, Donyell Malen stole the show with a brilliant goal against his former team. However, a second-half penalty from Luuk de Jong ensured a 1-1 draw, leaving the Champions League last-16 tie finely balanced.

Malen, the Dutch international, showcased his skill by unleashing a thunderous shot from a tight angle to give PSV the lead after 24 minutes. Despite Dortmund’s efforts, it was PSV who created better opportunities throughout the match.

De Jong leveled the score from the penalty spot, extending PSV’s unbeaten home streak to 31 games across all competitions. With the return leg scheduled in Dortmund on March 13, the tie hangs in the balance.

This match marked PSV’s first Champions League knockout tie in eight seasons, as they aim to progress to the quarter-finals for the first time since the 2006-07 campaign.

In a game where clear-cut chances were scarce, neither team took significant risks in attack, resulting in a tense and cautious affair.

Malik Tillman missed a golden opportunity to open the scoring when he dragged his shot wide after being set up on the edge of the box. However, Malen’s stunning goal, despite being surrounded by defenders, gave Dortmund the lead.

PSV earned a penalty early in the second half when Dortmund’s Mats Hummels fouled Tillman in the box. Despite protests from the visitors, VAR upheld the decision, allowing De Jong to convert the spot-kick comfortably.

De Jong’s goal not only secured a draw for PSV but also saw him surpass Ruud van Nistelrooy as the club’s leading scorer in the Champions League with nine goals.
