October 19, 2025 – San Siro. AC Milan mounted a stunning comeback to snatch a 2-1 win over Fiorentina and leapfrog to the top of the league. Rafael Leão was the mastermind – his two goals turned a Fiorentina lead on its head after Robin Gosens had fired them ahead in the 55th minute.
Under Massimiliano Allegri’s tutelage, Milan showed their mettle, while Stefano Pioli’s Fiorentina put up a real fight but just fell short. The second half was the real clincher for Milan.

The first goal – and we mean the first one that counted, not the first one that went in – came Fiorentina’s way in the 55th minute when Robin Gosens headed in a delicious cross from Jacopo Fazzini. AC Milan got their noses back in front in the 63rd minute when Rafael Leão unleashed a beauty from distance – that’s one way to put it !. And the real winner came in the 86th minute, when a spot-kick sealed the deal – after a VAR review had first had a look and given the all-clear, Rafael Leão stepped up to slot it home. The San Siro erupted in a frenzy of joy – so did Rafael, of course.
Man of the match
And the Man of the Match award went to Rafael Leão, no question. The guy produced some pure magic with that first goal and then coolly slotted home the spot-kick. Santiago Giménez was the real spark plug behind that winner – what a ball he won in the box – and Youssouf Fofana was outstanding in midfield for Milan.
The Fiorentina lads who stood out were Robin Gosens, even though he couldn’t quite get his team the win, and Jacopo Fazzini – that cross of his was a real beauty.
