Goals
Brentford took the lead in the 5th minute when Michael Kayode’s long throw was flicked on by Kristoffer Ajer, and Dango Ouattara volleyed home. Kevin Schade doubled the lead in the 45th minute, racing past Ibrahima Konaté to slot in a pass from Mikkel Damsgaard.
Liverpool pulled one back in stoppage time when Milos Kerkez tapped in a Conor Bradley cross, which was two minutes after the added time had been indicated. Igor Thiago restored Brentford’s two-goal lead in the 60th minute, converting a penalty after Virgil van Dijk fouled Ouattara. Mohamed Salah’s 88th-minute volley, set up by Dominik Szoboszlai, made it interesting, but Brentford held on.
Man of the Match
Dango Ouattara was Man of the Match for his goal and constant threat, and the penalty for Brentford’s third. Kevin Schade and Igor Thiago were clinical, and Mikkel Damsgaard’s assist was key. For Liverpool, Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai showed some fight.
