Real Madrid delivered a commanding performance, securing a 4-0 victory over LaLiga contenders Girona on Saturday. Jude Bellingham shone with a pair of goals, alongside strikes from Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo, further extending Real’s lead at the league’s summit to five points.
Unfortunately for Real, Bellingham had to leave the pitch due to injury right after netting his second goal.
Girona, previously unbeaten in 15 league matches since their defeat to Real in September, aimed to leapfrog to the top of the table with a victory. However, they remain firmly in second place, with Carlo Ancelotti’s squad now sitting comfortably on 61 points from 24 games.
The hosts took the lead just six minutes into the match when Vinicius Jr capitalized on Fede Valverde’s pass, delivering a splendid long-range strike for his seventh league goal of the season.
Bellingham then doubled the advantage, capitalizing on Vinicius’ through ball to slot past Girona’s goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga in the 36th minute. His second goal of the night came in the 54th minute, as he tapped in a loose ball in the six-yard box.
Rodrygo sealed the emphatic victory with a powerful shot into the far corner in the 61st minute, following Vinicius’ second assist of the game. Despite Joselu’s late penalty miss, Real’s dominance was unquestionable throughout the match.
