Liverpool 4-1 Luton Highlights | Premier League

Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo struck within two minutes of each other in the second half, kickstarting a surge as a depleted Liverpool side secured a commanding 4-1 comeback win against Luton Town at Anfield on Wednesday.

With injuries plaguing Liverpool, including key absences like Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez, they found themselves trailing at halftime in a home league fixture for the first time this season, courtesy of a goal from Luton’s Chiedozie Ogbene in the 12th minute.

However, Juergen Klopp’s side emerged revitalized after the break. Van Dijk capitalized on a corner from Alexis Mac Allister to equalize in the 56th minute, followed swiftly by Gakpo’s header from Mac Allister’s precise cross, described by Klopp as “a grenade.”

Luis Diaz and Harvey Elliott further extended Liverpool’s lead in the 71st and 90th minutes respectively, showcasing the team’s resilience amidst a demanding season.

“We are a resilient team and we want to fight for one another. It’s a hectic season,” remarked Elliott.

Despite a valiant effort from Luton’s goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski, who made several crucial saves, Liverpool’s relentless attacks ultimately proved too much to handle.

Liverpool’s victory comes amidst a challenging period of injuries, with Klopp confirming Salah’s unavailability due to a recent hamstring issue, along with other key players sidelined. The timing is particularly unfortunate with the League Cup final against Chelsea approaching and a tight title race underway.

The battle to avoid relegation remains intense, with Luton level on points with 17th-placed Everton, highlighting the significance of every match in the Premier League.
